I’m big on sharing useful information, especially on something as important as relationships and sexuality. I put a ton of work into creating the survey, crunching the numbers, and writing it all out into something that makes sense and can benefit people.

Probably the hardest chapter to write was Ch. 5. Sex Makes You a Better Person. Actually, it was the hardest chapter out of all of my books. As it turns out, it’s not just relationships that are hard—writing about them is also hard. Go figure. The goal of this chapter is to explain how it is that the process of creating a great sex life pushes a couple to do important work on their relationship which requires doing some really important individual work. Or, as I like to say, a good relationship pushes you to become a better person. The couples who keep sex hot are the ones who are willing to do this work. This may be especially true for couples with one partner with ADHD since it can create more challenges to overcome.

Fortunately, what it takes to create a better sex life will also benefit your relationship overall, as well as each of you individually, so there is a lot to gain here. As a therapist, this is what I help clients with all day. If someone has ADHD, then we work to minimize the negative impact that ADHD can have on their relationship and life, but my goal isn’t any different if neither partner has ADHD: I want my all clients to live a good life with meaningful relationships and a satisfying sex life. Addressing ADHD is a means to an end, not a goal, but we need to take it seriously and know what to do about it.

As you can see from the Table of Contents, the book covers a lot about how ADHD impacts relationships and sexuality, as well as all sorts of other related matters. I want to share this chapter because this is what it’s all about—becoming a better person and partner and doing better as a team.

I want as many people as possible to benefit from the survey respondents’ generosity and all the time I spent figuring out what it all meant.
